The Butler County KY Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is proud to announce Jane Kent Smith, a 50-year member, as its 2022 Woman in History.   Jane’s Revolutionary War Ancestor was William Edmondson of Virginia. 

Over the years Jane has worn many hats in the Butler County Chapter.   She served three terms as Chapter Regent.  Other offices held include Vice Regent,  Chaplin, Corresponding Secretary and Chapter Secretary.  Jane has always been willing to serve wherever needed.  She has been chairman of many committees and special committees throughout her 50 years, including Chairman of the DAR Good Citizen Award, scholarship award , conservation award, public relations media, program chair, by-laws and standing committee rules chair and president generals' project chair. 
For many years Jane, along with her daughter Gina Howard, also  a member of BCNSDAR, has been in charge of preparing the Veterans' Day breakfast, and hosting the annual Silver Tea.
Jane was recognized on March 22, 2022 for her outstanding contributions not only to her DAR Chapter but also for the work she does in her church and behind the scenes in the community. 

Special out of town guest helping to celebrate the occasion was Julia Hood, DAR 2nd District Director. 

Also attending was Jane’s siblings : Sam Kent, brother; and sisters Edythe Martin, Patty Jones and Sybil Givens, along with Jane’s daughters Leigh Ann Phelps, Gina Howard, and their families.  

To make the night more exciting, the Butler County Chapter Daughters of the American  Revolution was also celebrating their 50th Anniversary.  

Refreshments were enjoyed by everyone present.
