JAKES Day: Fun, Food, and Fellowship

The Butler County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation held their annual JAKES Day last Saturday on the Haynes property in Leonard Oak. Over 120 kids participated in the fishing and shooting events. Several door prizes were given away and lunch was served.

Keagan Grubb, son of Pat and Kim Grubb, had the biggest catch of the day; he hauled in this 10 lb. catfish.

Emmie Hawkins, daughter of Jeff and Annie Hawkins, had the second largest catch of the day.

JAKES, which stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, and Sportsmanship, is "dedicated to informing, educating, and involving youth in wildlife conservation and the wise stewardship of our natural resources" according to the NWTF website.
