Jakes Day 2018

The Butler County Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation held their annual Jakes Day at the Haynes Farm in Leonard Oak. A total of 55 children came out to fish, and the chapter itself had 47 sign up as new members.

The lakes were stocked with 800 pounds of catfish for the event. The weather was fantastic for children and adults of all ages to sit on the bank of the lake and enjoy the day. A free lunch was served at 11:00 and prizes were awarded. Several participants received a hot/cold pack from the chapter.

The day allows children the opportunity to be outdoors, fish, understand the importance of conservation, and promote the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.
