Inmate escapes from jail work crew

At approximately 8:23 a.m. this morning an inmate at the Butler County Jail escaped from the  jail work crew.  The crew was weed-eating near the south bound ramp on Exit 28 on the William Natcher Parkway.  The inmate, Daniel Carmola, age 28, apparently walked off the work detail and jumped into a dark-colored Ford Ranger pickup.  Carmola had been on the work crew for three days.  He was in jail for assault (second degree, police officer), evading police, and driving under the influence.

A warrant has been issued for Carmola - escape (second degree).

Heath West, chief deputy with the Butler County Sheriff's Department, is the investigating officer.  Anyone with information about this escape is urged to contact the Butler County Sheriff's Department at 526-3676.
