Illegal Hunting Leads to Multiple Charges

John Christopher Morgan

John Christopher Morgan (DOB 9/3/85) of 155 Belmont Church Road, Morgantown, Kentucky, was arrested on November 14, 2011.  He was charged with the following: illegal taking of wildlife, taking of wildlife from a vehicle, resident hunting deer w/o proper big game permit, resident hunting/fishing w/o license/permit/stamp, possession of firearm by convicted felon ( 2 counts) and parole violation.  Morgan was lodged in the Butler County Jail.
Butler County Sheriff Deputy Joe Alford responded to a call about shots in the woods.  When Alford arrived he encountered two individuals, Morgan and a juvenile, coming out of the woods.  According to Alford they first stated they had shot a deer earlier in the day and were tracking it in the woods. Later, Morgan confessed to spotting the deer with his headlights and shooting it with a .50 caliber muzzleloader.
KY Fish and Wildlife Officer Scott McIntosh was called and made the arrest.  Once incarcerated, officials found outstanding warrants on Morgan from Logan County, which resulted in additional charges.
