HS FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Bears to visit Warren Central

MORGANTOWN — Looking to return to the win column, Butler County will visit Warren Central for its third game in the 2023 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 1. 

Butler County and Warren Central will meet for a non-district matchup. The Bears and Dragons did not meet in 2022. 

Butler County (Class 3A, District 2) is 1-1 after splitting its first two games in the 2023 high school football season.

Under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, Butler County pulled away to beat Russellville 29-7 in a season opener on Friday, Aug. 18. The Bears and Panthers met in a bowl game at Logan County High School. 

After claiming a win in its season opener, Butler County slipped into the loss column. Webster County defeated the Bears 55-28 on Friday. Aug. 25. Butler County lost to Webster County in its home opener. 

Warren Central is 0-2 after opening the 2023 high school football season with back-to-back losses on the road to Logan County and Franklin-Simpson.

Logan County leveled Warren Central 57-14 in the Lewisburg Bank Bowl on Friday, Aug. 18.

Dealing Warren Central its second straight loss in the 2023 high school football season, Franklin-Simpson defeated the Dragons 42-12 on Friday, Aug. 25.

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Warren Central, Grayson County, Hart County, Franklin-Simpson, Bethlehem, Adair County, Glasgow and Ohio County. 

 

Kickoff for the Butler County- football game is set for 7 p.m. in Bowling Green.  The game will be broadcast live on WLBQ 101.5.
