HS FOOTBALL: Bears suffer shutout loss to Franklin-Simpson
FRANKLIN — Butler County was held scoreless as Franklin-Simpson pulled away to win 35-0 in a Class 3A, District 2 game on Friday, Sept. 27.
With the loss, Butler County dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 2.
Franklin-Simpson improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 2 after notching the win.
Following a scoreless opening quarter, Franklin-Simpson reached the endzone twice during the second period. The Bears entered halftime out in front 14-0.
Franklin-Simpson led 21-0 at the end of the third quarter and finished strong, adding two more touchdowns in the final quarter.
Butler County compiled 141 yards of total offense in the district game.
Through the air for Butler County, Garrett Phelps completed one 35-yard pass to Cainan Vincent.
Butler County rushed 26 times for 106 yards. Lonnie Phelps paced Butler County on the ground, rushing 13 times for 49 yards. Ranking second in rushing for the Bears, Garrett Phelps took nine carries for 43 yards.
Defensively for Butler County, Kevin Robins recorded a team-high 14 tackles.
Second in the key defensive category, Lonnie Phelps logged 11 tackles for the Bears.
Butler County is scheduled to host Bethlehem for a non-district game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
