H.S. FOOTBALL: Bears scheduled to host Owensboro Catholic

MORGANTOWN - Butler County is scheduled to host rival Owensboro Catholic for a Class 2A, District 2 football game on Friday, Oct. 23, which is also homecoming for the Bears.   

A Butler County-Russell County football game scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16 was canceled due to COVID-19. 

Butler County is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in Class 2A, District 2. After knocking off Hart County in a season opener, Butler County has dropped games to McLean County, Hancock County, Grayson County and Todd County Central.

Quarterback Jagger Henderson continues to lead Butler County. Through the air, Henderson has completed 55 of 108 passes for 598 yards and seven touchdowns. The Butler County quarterback has thrown three interceptions. On the ground, Henderson has rushed 59 times for 320 yards and four touchdowns.

As a team, Butler County has rushed 133 times for 591 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Ranking second in rushing for the Bears, Josh Morris has rushed 27 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns.

Solomon Flener leads Butler County in receiving. Flener has hauled in 10 receptions for 133 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively for Butler County, Morris has posted a team-high 44 tackles. 

Contributing on the defensive side, Henderson has recorded two interceptions. 

Owensboro Catholic is 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 2A, District 2. The Aces opened the 2020 high school football season 4-0 following wins over Mt. Vernon (Ind.), Hopkins County Central, Todd County Central and McLean County. However, Owensboro Catholic has dropped back-to-back games to Owensboro and Hancock County. 

Quarterback Lincoln Clancy leads the Aces. Clancy has completed 57 of 88 passes for 922 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Owensboro Catholic quarterback has thrown five interceptions.

Braden Mundy paces Owensboro Catholic in receiving. Mundy has hauled in 26 receptions for 392 yards and eight touchdowns. 

Owensboro Catholic has rushed 159 times for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns. Leading the Aces on the ground, Hunter Monroe has rushed 45 times for 330 yards and three touchdowns. 

In addition to thriving through the air, Clancy has rushed 39 times for 297 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively for Owensboro Catholic, Christopher Boarman has recorded a team-high 73 tackles. 

Owensboro Catholic pulled away to defeat Butler County 63-24 when the two high school football teams met for a district matchup in 2019. 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Owensboro Catholic football game is set for 7 p.m.
