H.S. FOOTBALL: Bears Prep for Ohio Co. After Falling to Catholic Last Week

Bears set to visit Ohio County

Butler County is scheduled to visit Ohio County for a non-district football game in Week 8 of the 2020 high school football season on Friday, Oct. 30.


The Eagles pulled away to beat the Bears 62-28 during the 2019 high school football season.


Butler County is 1-5. The Bears edged Hart County in a season opener. However, Butler County has dropped five straight games to McLean County, Hancock County, Grayson County, Todd County Central and Owensboro Catholic.

Quarterback Jagger Henderson has accounted for over 950 total yards for the Bears. Henderson has completed 65 of 128 passes for 657 yards and seven touchdowns. He has thrown four interceptions. On the ground, Henderson has rushed 61 times for 303 yards and four touchdowns.

Josh Morris ranks second in rushing for the Bears. Morris has rushed 36 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns. 

Solomon Flener paces Butler County in receiving. Flener has hauled in 18 receptions for 242 yards and three touchdowns for Class 2A, District 2 member Butler County. Another consistent receiver, Bryar Beasley has reeled in 11 receptions for 141 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears. 

Morris (57 tackles), Landon Binion (43 tackles) and Dylan Silcox (42) are the Bears' top three tacklers. 


Ohio County is 1-5 as well. The Eagles notched a win over Muhlenberg County in September. Ohio County has dropped games to Daviess County, Owensboro, Graves County, Grayson County and Breckinridge County. 

Producing regularly on the ground, Ohio County has rushed 148 times for 919 yard and 11 touchdowns. 

Running back Q'Daryius Jennings leads the Eagles. Jennings has rushed 86 times for 720 yards and seven touchdowns.

Pacing Ohio County through the air, quarterback Devin Gott has completed 47 of 104 passes for 634 yards and five touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. Chipping in on the ground, Gott has rushed for three touchdowns.

Kaleb Humphrey leads the Eagles in receiving. Humphrey has hauled in 20 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Dylan Payton paces Ohio County with a game-high 59 tackles.

 

 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Ohio County football game is set for 7 p.m. in Hartford.

Bears suffer shutout loss to Owensboro Catholic

Butler County was held scoreless as visiting Owensboro Catholic pulled away to win 41-0 in a Class 2A, District 2 football game on Friday, Oct. 23.


With the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in Class 2A, District 1.


Owensboro Catholic improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the district with the win.


The Aces moved ahead early and never faltered. Owensboro Catholic gradually pulled away to win convincingly.

The Aces thrived on the ground, rushing 43 times for 425 yards. Hunter Moore led Owensboro Catholic, rushing 19 times for 149 yards and three touchdowns. 

Braden Mundy, Christopher Boarman and Jack Terry added one rushing touchdown apiece for the Aces. Mundy rushed six times for 141 yards. 

Owensboro Catholic amassed 471 yards of total offense.

Defensively for the Aces, William Carrico recorded 12 tackles while Christopher Boarman made 10 stops. 

Butler County was limited to 102 yards of total offense in the loss. Through the air for Butler County, quarterback Jagger Henderson completed 10 of 20 passes for 59 yards. Henderson threw one interception.

Brody Hunt led Butler County in receiving, reeling in five receptions for 23 yards.

Zack Silcox, Jordan Todd, Bryar Beasley and Landon Phelps added one reception apiece for Butler County in the setback.

The Bears rushed 30 times for 43 yards. Colton Dunnells led Butler County on the ground, rushing seven times for 22 yards. Along with Dunnells, Silcox, Todd, Jake McKee, Josh Morris and Zack White rushed for positive yardage in the Bears' loss.

Defensively for Butler County, Morris recorded a team-high 13 tackles. Landon Binion added 10 tackles while Beasley recorded an interception.
