HS FOOTBALL: Bears-Panthers set to tangle in Morgantown

The Butler County High School football Bears will open its regular season tonight at home against the Russellville Panthers.  Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.  The game was moved from its traditional Friday night due to a shortage of game officials.

Tonight's game will be broadcast live on WLBQ 101.5 FM with Jeff Jennings and Mark Allen on the air.

Russellville Panthers 2022/ History & Scouting Report: 

–Russellville Panthers- Class A State Runner Up 2021 

–2021- Overall Record (12-2); beat Bears in Opener 45-0 and went on to the Class A State title game falling to Pikeville 30-27 last December. 

–The 2021 Panthers lost QB Lennon Ries, Coach Pete Reis' son, to graduation.  Lennon took every snap in 2021 along with (3) other Seniors, who accounted for much of the team's offense and touchdowns in 2021. 

–Octavious McKeage #5 looks to step in as QB for the Panthers in 2022.

–Russellville has a rich football tradition, including three state championships - 1980, 1983, and 1990.
