H.S. FOOTBALL: Bears drop district game to Hancock County

LEWISPORT - Butler County fell behind early and couldn't recover from its slow start as host Hancock County pulled away to win 48-8 in a Class 2A, District 2 football game on Friday, Sept. 25.

Hancock County dealt Butler County its second straight loss. 

With the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in Class 2A, District 2.

Hancock County moved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the district with the win. 

Excelling, Hancock County piled up 393 yards of total offense.

Leading Hancock County on the ground, Logan Willis rushed 16 times for 153 yards and one touchdown.

Following Willis, Darian Clay rushed five times for 96 yards and three touchdowns for the Hornets.

Another Hancock County running back, Xander Early, rushed six times for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Through the air for Hancock County, quarterback Cole Dixon completed a scoring pass to receiver Sebastian Fredell.

Luke Garrison led the Hancock County defensive effort, registering seven tackles. 

Limited offensively, Butler County was held to 119 yards in the setback.

Quarterback Jagger Henderson completed a scoring pass to Solomon Flener for Butler County's lone touchdown.

Defensively for Butler County, Henderson and Dylan Silcox recorded six tackles apiece. Following Henderson and Silcox, Josh Morris recorded five tackles. 

The Bears are scheduled to host Grayson County for a non-district game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
