MORGANTOWN — Reigning 3rd Region champion Butler County defeated Owensboro 91-81 in its home opener on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

After registering the win, Butler County improved to 2-1.

The Bears carried a lead out of each quarter.

Butler County started strong, outscoring Owensboro 30-11 in the opening period.

The Bears led 48-39 at halftime and maintained a double-digit advantage heading into the final quarter.

Butler County led 67-57 at the end of the third period.

Ty Price poured in 36 points to lead Butler County to the win. 

Joining Price in double figures for Butler County, Trever Deweese scored 20 points, Justin Castle netted 16 points and Briar Griffin added 10 points.

Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Curtis Murphy contributed seven points and Clayton Deweese chipped in two points. 

Butler County is scheduled to host Whitesville Trinity for its 12th District opener at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.
