Housing Authority: Board approves resolution dealing with T.L.C. lawsuit; discusses housing renovations

The Morgantown Housing Authority held its monthly meeting on Monday, July 27, at the Kent Manor Community Room.  Chairperson James Dossey called the meeting to order.  In attendance were Billy Warren, Mayor Billy Phelps, Iris Moore, Pam Staples and Anita Jenkins.
Anita Jenkins reported that the Dabbs-Tuck kitchen and bathroom renovations had passed the final inspection. James Dossey indicated that he attended and reported at the last Morgantown City Council meeting on behalf of the board.
Next on the agenda was the T.L.C. lawsuit. Mayor Billy Phelps made the following motion:
"I move adoption of the following resolution. Resolved, that pursuant to the terms of a settlement reached in the Butler Circuit Court in Civil Action 11-CI-00109 and 15-CI-00095, that the Board Chairman be authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Board of the Housing Authority of Morgantown, a Quit Claim Deed which pertains to a property line discrepancy as shown on a plat prepared by Cody Henderson dated December 13, 2013.
The motion was seconded by Billy Warren and approved by the board.

Next, Jenkins reported an increase in health insurance and a decrease of $1,713.53 on property and liability insurance.  She also reported that the 2016 Capital Fund Improvement Grant will be used for bathroom upgrades at Huff-Ingram.
"We should be able to upgrade about 30 bathrooms but are still waiting on bids," said Jenkins.
Gym work is scheduled to begin in July at the Boys and Girls Club Building.
Jewel McIintosh reported on the new HUD regulations concerning annual recertification of residents.  Instead of every year, the process will be on a three-year basis.
In closing, Jenkins reported that the Housing Authority will be giving the City of Morgantown $27,221.13 for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.  The money is the annual taxes based on income from the housing units.
