Hosparus needs volunteers in the Barren River area and will offer a free training session, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, October 19 (breakfast snack and lunch provided) at its Bowling Green location, 101 Riverwood Ave. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, October 17. Hosparus volunteers can choose from a variety of duties which include: patient/family support, administrative duties, help with community events and fundraising.  Hosparus volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation and complete an application and training process.

Hosparus needs veterans to provide patient support for fellow veterans. In addition, the organization needs volunteers who are licensed cosmetologists and barbers to provide hair care for its patients.

For 35 years, Hosparus, a fully accredited non-profit hospice organization, has provided care for people facing life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. 

Last year, Hosparus Barren River cared for more than 200 patients and their families. Its team of healthcare professionals and volunteers provide pain and symptom control and medication management; personal care such as bathing, skin care and light housekeeping; counseling, spiritual care and bereavement services.
