The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, February 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex. At the beginning of the meeting, Assistant Superintendent Robert Tuck administered the Oath of Office to newly re-elected board member Dr. Amy Hood.

District Finance Officer Eric Elms gave the January treasurer’s report. The balance at the beginning of January was $1,466,802.62.  The end-of-the-month balance was $1,997,741.98.

Superintendent Scott Howard gave his monthly report to the board and told about some of the recent events he has attended including the GRREC Legislative Meeting and District Facility Plan Meeting.  Howard said administrators from Taylor County recently visited our school district, as well at the superintendents from Logan County, Todd County, and Russellville Schools. Superintendent Howard said, “The district-wide spelling bee was a great success.  We had great students from all the schools.  Congratulations to Brady Jones for winning and good luck to him as he represents our school district in the state spelling bee.”  

The board approved the following:

•FY20 School Year Student Accident and Student Athletic Year Insurance Renewal with Roberts Insurance in the amount of $33,669.20 

•348E Budget Revision 

•Trip for DECA students to attend state competition in Louisville, March 3-5, 2019

•Declare Two (2) Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers as Surplus Property

•Sealed Bid as Method of Disposal for Two (2) Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers

•Purchase of Two (2) John Deere Lawn Mowers Contingent upon Sale of Present Equipment 

•FY 19 School Facilities Construction Commission KETS Second Offer of Assistance in the amount of $13,759.00 

•Ford Communications 2019 Monthly Tower and Repeater Fee Increase of $120.00 

•Revised WKU Spring 2019 Student Teacher Assignment Requests
