Homemakers' Proclamation issued; volunteer hours highlighted

Butler County Homemakers' President Tammy Alford, member Sherry Johnson, and Tracy Thronton, the Family & Consumer Science Agent for Butler County, presented Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps and Butler County Judge-Executive Tim Flener with a check to represent the volunteer hours of the Butler County Homemakers. There are currently four homemakers 'clubs in Butler County: Dexterville, Aunt Jane's, Midway, and the mailbox club.

The 55 combined homemakers volunteered 10,330 hours in their community, at $28.54 per hour, which equals $293,962.00. The rate is determined by the Kentucky Homemakers' office.

"We only wish this check was real, but it is important to recognize these voluteer hours," said Thronton.

In December, Tracy Thornton marks her 28th year, making her the longest serving Family & Consumer Science Agent in Butler County.
