Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, February 10, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates - Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant were in attendance.

Quickly getting down to business, the court approved the revised Butler County Jail Policy and Procedures.

The court heard from Donavon McClure, a representative from the Kentucky Wired Project, concerning high-speed internet access for Butler County.  They are in the process of getting high-speed internet to the Butler County Public Library, courthouse, and schools. From that point, a company/entity will have to step in to make the service available to individual homes and businesses.

Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward and County Clerk Sherry Johnson presented their budget amendments to reflect the change in their salary, which is set by the state.

Magistrate Dillon Bryant made a motion to pay off $51,000 debt on a property that the county owns with the city of Morgantown. According to Bryant, with the payoff the county is debt-free. The motion passed 5-0.

Judge-Executive Tim Flener updated the court on a variety of grants recently received: library archives, clean up of four illegal dumps, and a paddlewheel for the Rochester Ferry.

Magistrate David Whittinghill made a motion to increase pay $1 per hour for the Butler County Treasurer and Finance Officer. The court approved the increase by a 5-0 vote.
