HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Bears set to host Breckinridge County

MORGANTOWN - Fresh off notching its first win in the 2021 high school football season, Butler County is scheduled to host Breckinridge County on Friday, Sept. 3. 

After suffering a shutout loss to Russellville in its season opener, Butler County bounced back to beat visiting Waggener 20-14 on Friday. Aug 27. 

Homestanding Russellville shut out the Bears 45-0 in the Linton-Wren Kick-off Classic.

Two games into the 2021 high school football season. quarterback Jagger Henderson is leading the Bears. Henderson has completed 13 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Contributing on the ground for Butler County, Henderson has rushed for another TD.

Luke Laughing and Solomon Flener have hauled in one touchdown pass reception apiece for the Bears. 

Josh Morris is pacing Butler County's defensive unit. Morris has recorded a team-high 22 tackles for the Bears. 

Breckinridge County dropped its season opener to Hancock County on Friday, Aug. 20. Hancock County shut out the Fighting Tigers 44-0.

Daniel Shain led Breckinridge County in its season opener, recording 17 tackles, one tackle for a loss and one sack. 

The Fighting Tigers were limited to 62 yards in their season opener. Michael Johnson provided the only offensive lift for Breckinridge County in its 2021 debut, rushing 16 times for 57 yards. 

The Bears and Fighting Tigers did not meet during the 2020 high school football season.

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Breckinridge County, Grayson County, McLean County, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic, Todd County Central, Clinton County and Ohio County. 

 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Breckinridge County football game is set for 7 p.m. The game will be live on WLBQ 101.5 FM.
