Rex Henderson

BOWLING GREEN - Western Kentucky University linebacker Rex Henderson, a Butler County High School graduate, has been named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.

Along with Henderson, WKU running back Joshua Samuel, defensive end Juwuan Jones and kick returner Garland LaFrance were voted to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. The Hilltoppers tied for a conference-high with four representatives on the squad.

A native of Morgantown, Henderson was a key contributor on special teams for the Hilltoppers throughout the 2018 season, finishing with three solo tackles. In addition, Henderson's 11-yard rush and conversion on a fake punt at Ball State on September 22 helped lead WKU to a 28-20 win over the Cardinals.

In 2017, Henderson redshirted his first season at WKU. He made the position change from quarterback to linebacker in the spring.

Henderson started at quarterback for three seasons at Butler County High School. He finished his high school career with 7,525 passing yards and 79 passing touchdowns and 2,763 rushing yards and 59 rushing touchdowns. Henderson racked up 10,288 yards on offense during his high school career. As a senior at BCHS, Henderson was named the Class 2A, District 2 Player of the Year and earned All-State recognition.
