Harvest Season Getting Slow Start

The 2013 Butler County Harvest Season is off to a slow start this year.  Farmers were delayed in planting their 2013 crops because of the very rainy spring.  The cool summer slowed down crop development and these two things are causing Butler County Farmers to start their harvest much later than normal.  Most years, corn harvest begins in late August or early September.  Many farmers will not begin this year until this week or early October.  The harvest will go on until nearly Thanksgiving unless we have very favorable weather.
