Gymnastics in Butler County

Over one hundred young ladies signed up for gymnastics. With such a large number the group has divided into two squads and in need of additional mats. They held a fundraiser this weekend at Darren Automotive.

Jocelyn Davis and Lorrie Jones teach the classes. Coach Jocelyn Davis has ten years of experience and has been coaching for five years. She was state champ for three consecutive years. Coach Lorrie Jones also has several years of experience in gymnastics, and both coaches are CPR and First Aid Certified.

One squad meets at North Butler Elementary on Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 PM and the other half meets at Morgantown Elementary School from 3:30 to 4:30 PM on Thursday. Cost is $8.00 per class.

Superintendent Scott Howard has arranged for girls that go to a different school to be dropped off for practice.

Ages are preschool to High School, and then the girls are teamed up in squads of similar experience and ability, not just age.

There will be competitions later, and they are encouraged to participate but not required.
