Guthrie Supports Fifth District Rural Volunteer Fire Department Grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) supported a federal grant that has been awarded to the Fifth District Rural Volunteer Fire Department.

A federal grant totaling $73,800 is coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. Guthrie voted to fund FEMA’s AFG program in Congress to help fire departments purchase needed resources.

“I’m thrilled the Fifth District Rural Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a federal grant totaling more than $73,000. This is exciting news for the Fifth District Rural Volunteer Fire Department’s firefighters, who have an important job of protecting lives and property in the local community. I’m happy to see funding I supported in Congress is going towards equipment to help local firefighters respond to emergencies,” said Guthrie.

The grant will be used for air packs and a cascade system.
