GT students take trip to Memphis

The Butler County High School gifted and talented students were able to take a trip on Friday, August 16th to Memphis, Tennessee.

The trip began when a student expressed interest in wanting to see two of only 12 giant Pandas in the United States.

The students were able to see the giant pandas and many other animals at the Memphis Zoo.  They also stopped by Sun Studios to see the birthplace of Rock n' Roll and visit the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot.

The afternoon was spent touring Beale Street and watching the Peabody Ducks take that famous walk down the red carpet from the fountain to the elevator.

Students finished their day by having a quick photo-op beside the gates of Graceland before heading back home.

Gifted and talented teacher Leslie Wood was appreciative toward the local sponsors who made donations to help with the expense of the trip.

“These trips would not be possible without the support of our community," said Wood.  "Our students had a great time and learned a lot in the process."
