Gruber brings home state title

Mark Gruber

On Wednesday, March 27th, Butler County Middle School attended the state STLP competition.  The STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) State Championship is held at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky each spring.  Students from schools across the state attend in hopes of winning a state title.  This year, Mark Gruber was successful in bringing home a state title for BCMS.  Mark won 1st place in the middle school division for Digital Element Design at the state STLP competition.  BCMS even used his digital design for their club t-shirts this school year.  The Digital Element Design category requires students to create original digital designs using elements that incorporate graphic design principles infused with digital elements.  Mark created his project earlier this school year with the goal of winning the competition within the club to design the t-shirt.  His project won the majority vote and therefore was not only used for the t-shirt design but for his STLP competition entry as well.  Mark had to thoroughly detail his process for judges to understand the tools and steps he took to create the final product.  To achieve his champion status, Mark had to win at the school level, the first state round, and finally be chosen from the top 10 submissions in his category for the entire state.
