Green Valley Vision

Two people fighting in the church and causing discord, disharmony, and distancing among themselves and others. What a shame and embarrassment to the Lord, the church, and the community!  Wake up brethren!  God is not pleased with this. In fact, In Philippians 4:2 we read, “I implore Euodia and Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. “  Paul was begging, while he was in prison, two women who were more selfish than selfless. They were hurting the church. What a disgrace!

Why would a Christian want to be petty and not resolve differences with others?  Read Matthew 18:15-21. The answer is rooted in selfishness. People choose not to get along, and sometimes act like they are the only ones who can be right in any matter. Now, if someone is changing God’s Word we are obligated to stand up for the truth. 1 Corinthians 16:13 tells us to stand up for the truth always.

But, for trivial, opinionated thoughts people need to show some tolerance. Amen?!  Be willing to give and consider others. In the beginning of the Lord’s church Peter declared to the people that they had crucified the Son of God in Acts 2:36.   In verse 37 they were convicted of their sin and wanted to know how to make it right. Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ‘“Pretty forthright and simple, don’t you think?

Notice their response in verse 41, “Then those that gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them….verse 47 concludes…”and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”  The baptized became the saved who were added to the church or body of Christ.

Don’t miss this. Even though the people came from many backgrounds and languages they were the same in some ways. Acts 2:44 claims, “Now all who believed were together and had all things in common.”  Same Father. Same Savior. Same salvation and faith. Now, can’t the church get along and avoid disputing and personality problems?!  Remember. We have the most important things as Christians in common. In Him, Kenny
