Green River Museum & Ramble

Opening day at the Green River Museum

This past Saturday marked the 14th season opening celebration for the Green River Museum in Woodbury, KY and according to Museum Board Chairman, Tommy Hines, the event was the largest attended opening since the board formed in 2003.

“We were thrilled with the attendance,” Hines said. “The weather cooperated, for the most part, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We couldn’t have asked for a better day.”

Hines went on to say that the decision to partner with the Morgantown Trail Town Task Force and co-host the Green River Ramble participants certainly played a role in the overwhelming success of the day.

“A big thanks goes out to Alecia Johnson, the Task Force and our Museum Board for working together to ensure both events were an overwhelming success.”

The celebration also featured live music from The Mark Mudd Family, Collin Coots and Kenny Johnson & friends; As well as, the Shogun Bistro food truck from Bowling Green.

Hines went on to remind everyone that the museum season will run through the last Saturday in September and features two new exhibits.  One, he said, is a “hodgepodge of recent acquisitions” and the other features the history of parades in Butler County.

89 people registered and participated in the Green River Ramble Saturday on the Green River in Butler County Kentucky. 44 people paddled from Reedyville to Woodbury and 45 paddled from Woodbury to Aberdeen. Also 10 of those did both legs of the events.
