Coleman has served as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 38th Judicial District for the past 16 years. He is a former president of the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney Association (KCAA) and previous member of the Prosecutors Advisory Council (PAC). Coleman was named 2009 “Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney” by the Kentucky Attorney General, and he received KCAA’s 2014 “Sword of Justice Award.”

Bevin for his trust, as well as Chief Justice Minton and the Judicial Nominating Committee for their confidence in nominating me,” said Coleman. “This is obviously a great honor and a great privilege, and I am excited to be able to serve the citizens of the Commonwealth and the 38th Judicial Circuit as Circuit Court Judge.”

Coleman is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was articles editor for the Kentucky Law Journal. He was previously a partner at the law firm of Jackson Kelly PLLC in Lexington and also served two years as Butler County Attorney.

His community leadership roles have included organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club (director), Gideons International (local camp president), Morgantown Bank and Trust (director) and the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television (chairman).

Coleman and his wife Sheila Peay Coleman reside in Butler County and have three children and three grandchildren.

He shall serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
