Goff Named Principal At Caverna High School

Former Butler County native Chase Goff was introduced Tuesday morning as the new Caverna High School principal.

Superintendent Cornelius Faulkner made the announcement at a meet and greet at the school and talked about Goff's selection.

“We were looking for someone who could promote a positive school culture,” Faulkner said. “Be very consistent, fair and follow through. Hold people accountable. Promote communication effectively and efficiently. Be very organized and structured. A team player, and, most of all, an instructional leader.

“We think we found those attributes and characteristics in Mr. Goff.”

Goff, 28, comes to Caverna from Warren Central High School where he was an academic interventionist, working with struggling students to meet expectations and developing school-wide plans for college and career readiness. He has also served as a special education teacher, department head, curriculum coordinator, building assessment coordinator and athletic director.

Before entering a career in education, Goff was a pastor at Hillvue Heights Church, serving as the high school minister.

Goff spoke with members of the community.

“I'm thankful to Mr. Faulkner and the committee,” Goff said. “It's an incredible opportunity for me, and I'm so happy to be here at Caverna. I'm also happy to be a Colonel."

Goff said he was attracted to the school district because he heard about the supportive community, superintendent, and great kids.

“I have a strong belief, a strong belief that all kids can learn,” he said. “I believe that all students have the capacity, that it's up to us as the adults to set that out in front of them.

“I expect nothing less than excellence. That's my standard. That's what we're gonna' do. Kids deserve that, and I believe that this is the place. Caverna has all the ingredients to be very, very special."

Goff and his wife Lauren have two boys, Maddux Chase, 3, and Ryer Joseph, 1, which they are in the process of adopting from Thailand.  He is the son of Cecil and Kathy Goff.
