GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Butler County tops Apollo 61-46

MORGANTOWN — Claiming its second straight win, Butler County topped visiting Apollo 61-46 on Monday, Dec. 4. 

Following the win, Butler County moved to 3-1. 

Starting strong, Butler County doubled up Apollo 20-10 in the first quarter.

Butler County led 32-26 at halftime and managed to extend its lead early in the second half.

The Lady Bears, under the direction of Coach Lexie Belcher, led 44-33 at the end of the third quarter.

Eight different players provided scoring for the Lady Bears. 

Taylor Leach scored 15 points to lead Butler County to the win. 

Accompanying Leach in double figures for Butler County, Ava Wilson scored 12 points and Parker Willoughby netted 10 points. 

Narrowly missing double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs scored nine points.

Chipping in offensively, Addison Miller (six points), Maddie Jones (four points), Isabella Easley (three points) and Bailey Moore (two points) provided Butler County's additional scoring. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District girls' basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tip-off for the Butler County-Whitesville Trinity girls' game is slated for 6 p.m.
