GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Butler County rolls past Apollo 61-33

OWENSBORO — Butler County pulled away to defeat 3rd Region rival Apollo 61-33 in a girls' high school basketball season opener on Tuesday, Dec. 3. 

The Lady Bears started strong, outscoring Apollo 29-7 in the opening quarter.

Butler County, which won on the road, led 40-12 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

The Lady Bears led 55-26 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Ava Wilson scored a game-high 21 points to lead Butler County to the convincing victory.

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted 16 points.

Narrowly missing double figures for the Lady Bears, Bailey Moore tossed in nine points.

Chipping in offensively, Carley Cardwell (six points), Isabella Easley (four points), Karrington Hunt (three points) and Jenna Brooks (two points) provided Butler County's additional scoring. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Hancock County for its next game on Friday, Dec. 6. Tip-off for the Butler County-Hancock County matchup is set for 7:30 p.m.
