Garrett Wins Wally @ Beech Bend

Jeff Garrett of Logansport won a coveted NHRA Wally at the 27th annual NHRA Sportsnational Open at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green over Memorial Day weekend. Garrett drove his 1980 Malibu to victory in the Super Pro division which featured 100 drivers racing for the Wally. Garrett defeated veteran Franklin, Kentucky, racer Trance Baker in the finals of the two-day event. The win not only gave Garrett his 1st career Wally, but also marked the first time he has managed to win at Beech Bend. Wife/Crew Chief Shella Garrett said, "We're so tickled. We've been trying to win at Beech Bend for so long, and winning the Wally at this race makes it so much more special."

The 27th Annual Sportsnational Open boasted its biggest field of cars in recent years with more than 650 entries in the event.
