GAME PREVIEW: Bears come home, hope to rebound against Todd

A banged-up Butler County High School football team will return to the field tonight in another district game at home against the Todd County Central Rebels (0-6, 0-2).  Butler County (3-3, 0-2) will be looking for its first Class 2A, District 2 win after dropping their first two district contests on the road — at Owensboro Catholic and Union County.

Although Todd will not pose the same threat as the Bears' last two opponents, B.C.H.S. head coach Ryan Emmick still expects a formidable challenge for his team.

"Todd is a solid team.  They have faced very tough competition thus far but have been competitive.  Offensively they are similar to us.  They use the spread formation to set up the run.  They will run jet sweeps to set up counters and quarterback runs," said Emmick.

"Defensively, they are athletic and like to being pressure.  They give multiple looks and we must recognize their defense early and adjust to it."

Following tough, physical outings the previous two weeks, Butler County has two players that will not be on the field tonight and several others are questionable.

"We are still banged up.  Kory Johnson is out with a broken ankle and Travis Brooks is out with a broken collarbone," said Emmick.  "The multitude of other guys will be game time decisions.  Some are going to play through their injuries as they know how important this game is.  We will have to rely on a team concept to make up for injured players and have faith the next man up will get the job done."

Butler County and Todd County Central will kick-off tonight in Morgantown at 7 p.m.  The game will be aired live on WLBQ 1570 AM and streamed on www.beechtreenews.com.
