Franklin Graham’s Shoe Box Ministry Begins

Once again you will be noticing Butler Countians shopping for children’s supplies.  Franklin Graham’s Shoebox ministry for children in poverty around the world has begun.  You will notice children shopping for children they don’t even know, but are excited to be giving toys to someone else.  Even when the joy of Christmas and the hope of the gospel, these children’s daily lives may still be filled with hardships.  Many don’t know where their next meal is coming from, or where they will sleep at night.  They are delighted to receive a shoebox filled with gifts just for them.
A little boy in Madagascar gave this testimony, “Since last year I started to pray and ask God to give me a nice soccer ball.  Our Church got gift boxes and I got one box.  When I opened it the first thing I noticed was the ball of my dreams.I am so happy God listens to a small boy like me.”
Shoe boxes are availble at Morgantoen Community Church, First Baptist, Gasper River Association office, and Drakes’ Farm Store. They may be returned filled with $7.00 for shipping to any of the above by November 8-12.  They should be filled with school supplies, small toys, and hygiene items.  It is easy to pack a shoe box.  For more information call Peggy Drake at 526-3741 or 526-4321.
