Football: Bears fall to Franklin-Simpson in district game

MORGANTOWN — Butler County scored multiple touchdowns, but it wasn't enough as Franklin-Simpson pulled away to win 43-16 in a Class 3A, District 2 game on Friday, Sept. 22. 
The Bears suffered the setback on Homecoming. 
Franklin-Simpson dealt Butler County its fifth straight loss.
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 2.
Franklin-Simpson moved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A, District 2 after registering the win. 
The Wildcats scored first and never trailed. Franklin-Simpson led 36-0 at halftime. 
Quarterback Garrett Phelps paced the Bears. Through the air, Phelps completed 10 of 16 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown. The Butler County signal caller threw one interception. 
Producing through the air and on the ground, Phelps rushed 13 times for 51 yards and one touchdown.
Gage Beasley continued to lead the Bears in receiving. Beasley hauled in five receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively for Butler County, Logan Hargrove recorded six tackles while Jay Peralta posted five tackles.
Delivering both offensively and defensively for the Bears, Garrett Phelps added one interception. 
Butler County is scheduled to visit Bethlehem for a non-district game on Friday, Sept. 29.
