Flooding, winter weather impacting Butler County; several roads closed
Beginning on Saturday evening, several significant weather events have combined to wreak havoc across Butler County, much of the state, and regions of the country. The result has been the threat of several storms and wind, heavy rains and flooding conditions that have closed several roads, including U.S. 231 in Morgantown, and snow that fell in small amounts early Sunday morning and in greater amounts Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

Several community events have been canceled or postponed and Butler County Schools have canceled in-person classes Monday through Wednesday (so far), switching instead to non-traditional instruction (NTI). Governor Andy Beshear has delcared a State of Emergency for the entire state.

On top of the 3-4 inches of snow that fell in many parts of Butler County, temperatures are expected to plummet Wednesday through early Friday. Wind chill will be in single digits in some areas.
Butler County is currently under a flood warning through Sunday, February 23, and a cold weather advisory through early Friday.
Currently, U.S. 231 in Morgantown (Main Street) is closed in two places - one near Sonic and the other by Butler County High School. The school, several businesses, and multiple homes are cut off by water over roads in both directions. Many roads and streets in and around Rochester and Woodbury are flooded and no longer passable. The fairground area near the Boogie Barn is flooded and the road is closed. River road on the Aberdeen side is also flooded. Leonard Oak Road near the Erbie West bottoms is covered with flood waters, as is several other roads across Butler County.
