Morgantown Elementary Principal Chad Flener was named Principal of the Year at the Kentucky School Counselors Conference in Lexington.  Every counselor is the state is encouraged to nominate a deserving Principal, MES counselor Linda Tyree nominated Flener.
Mrs. Tyree's nomination included the following:
"Mr. Flener has been a colleague, friend, and my principal for several years.  Since becoming Principal of Morgantown Elementary School, he has provided leadership and opportunities for growth in the area of character education, community involvement, team building, and personal accountability to our students and staff in many different ways.  He has been a huge supporter of our counseling program, always listening to my concerns and brainstorming ways to meet the needs of our students and their families.  He truly practices the seven habits and models them daily.  He is a great communicator, leader, friend, and mentor.  His expertise is in the area of curriculum and instruction, but he never passes up an opportunity to help with a student's social and emotional well-being as well as their academic success.  He supports families and is involved in many community events.  He arrives at school hours before the doors open and stays well into the night whenever needed.  He can fix anything!  And he never asks anyone to do any job that he is not willing to roll up his sleeves and help complete!  I am so thankful he is my principal, and I am so blessed that he is my friend!"
