Fiscal Court: Rural Secondary Roads

The Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, April 14, at the Butler County Courthouse with all magistrates in attendance.

Lucas Gilliam from the Ky State Department of Highways spoke to the Court concerning the Rural Secondary Program. The projected allotment is $1,484,991, with a carryover of $157,149 for a total of $1,642,140 funds available for use in Butler County. Routine maintenance on 139.3 miles of Rural Secondary Roads @ $4,264.18 per mile will cost $594,000. Pavement repair and resurfacing of the following: 

  • 2.767 miles of KY 340 Brooklyn Road from KY 70 extending to Love Brooklyn Road
  • 3.144 miles of KY 1153 Berrys Lick Road from KY 106 extending to KY 626

Gilliam also updated the Court on ongoing projects: Panther Creek Bridge, KY 70, KY 411, replacing a culvert on KY 1153, and safety corrections on KY 185.

County Clerk Sherry Johnson gave her a comprehensive quarterly report. Her office took in $3,999,775.30 during the first three months of 2025, providing a clear picture of the financial status.

Deena Embry, chairperson of Trail Town, addressed the Court on the exciting upcoming events and projected plans for the organization. She shared that two kayaking events will be held, the first on June 7 and the second in conjunction with the Green River Catfish Festival. Plans are also to add two more events to the calendar. Embry also asked for a $2,500 appropriation for next year.  

Judge Tim Flener read a proclamation recognizing telecommunication week, a time to honor the vital role of our dispatchers in ensuring public safety."Our dispatchers do a great job," said Flener, expressing the Court's gratitude for their service.

After returning from the closed session, the Court scheduled two called meetings to interview for the Butler County Treasurer's position. The closed session was held to discuss sensitive personnel matters, in accordance with state regulations.

  • MVFD Treasurer's Report
  • 4th District VFD Treasurer's Report
  • Training incentive for the Butler County Jailer
  • Mud River Watershed Annual Budget
  • Annual Bid packet for the Road Department
  • Health Department Tax rate
  • Flag Quote- $1,392.33 (10 flags)
  • Treasurer's Monthly and Quarterly Reports
  • Transfer $20,000 from the General Fund to the E911 Fund
  • Transfer $35,000 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund
