Fiscal Court Meeting

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 5:00 pm. All magistrates were in attendance for the meeting.

 Minutes from the July 22, 2024 and July 25, 2024 were approved.

 In old business, the Magistrates and Judge Executive Flener briefly discussed the inspection of Treasurer Trace as a candidate for a county road. Magistrates Smith and Wittinghill inspected the road and felt some additional gravel or redistribution of the gravel that is already there is all that is needed for this to be accepted. A motion was made by Magistrate Smith and seconded by Magistrate Givens for this to become the 1st Reading. Magistrate Bryant abstained. The public hearing was set for September 9, 2024 at 4:30 pm.

In New Business, Jeanie Locke from the Friends of Butler County Animals gave an update on the new facility and some recent purchases for the shelter.

"We'd like to give a huge shout out thank you to our Butler County Fiscal Court County Judge Executive Tim Flener, our magistrates for the recent decision to entrust the Mona Gilstrap inheritance fund to Friends of Butler County Animals. The funds will allow us to continue to provide care for stray, unwanted, injured, abandoned and surrendered animals at the Butler County Animal Shelter."

  She thanked the magistrates for helping with the current driveway.  Recent purchases for the shelter with the Mona Gilstrap funds included surgical drapes and microchips.

The court unanimously approved the following items:

-PVA Request-The Statutory County Contribution for the fiscal year 2024-2025 is $29,520. First quarter payment request of $7,380 was approved.

-Certification of Equalized Assessment- 

-E-911 Generator Bid- Blanton Electric Inc.- $28,325

-Butler County Tourism Financial Statement-

-Ferry Motors- Agreement between KY Transportation Cabinet and Butler County Fiscal Court for Reeds and Rochester Ferries emergency  motors projects in Butler and Ohio County- $15,612.50

-Litter Abatement Grant (Permission to apply)

-Illegal Dump Grant (Permission to apply)

-Pay Butler County EMS KBEMS FY25 Block Grant $$10,000.00

-Rochester Stream Flow Station- $6,000 United States Department of the Interior

-Butler County Health Department Tax Rate- .025 per $100 of real property, tangible personal property and inventory

-Mud River Watershed Tax Rate - 0.0135 per $100 of real property

-Reimburse Angie Pendley (Computer)$625

-R and R Domain- $301.05

-Litter Abatement Payments- BCMS Soccer $504

-Treasurer's Monthly Settlement for May and June 2024

-Condition Report

Transfer $35,000 from General to Jail Funds

Magistrate Phelps thanked James Sikes who made the swing and hung it at the Woodbury RV Park.

 Magistrate Bryant thanked everyone for their kindness shown to him and his family during the passing of his mother.

 Charlie Tomes announced that FEMA will be at the Extension Office until August 17, 2024. Their services are available to anyone who received damage during the recent storms.

 Judge Flener announced that the annual tractor pull will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 and they will be giving away tickets on WLBQ this week.  These tickets are being provided by Judge Flener and all the Magistrates.
