FISCAL COURT: Magistrates approve mowing bid for courthouse; approve jail budget

While practicing social distancing, the Butler County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on Monday night at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.


The first item was to review Thomas Lawn & Landscapes' bid for the mowing and care of the courthouse lawn. After making several adjustments, the court approved the bid of $8,111 for the mowing and care of the courthouse lawn. The court also approved Thomas Lawn & Landscapes' proposal of $748.01 for the replacement of shrubs, a tree, and rose care for the yard.


The court approved the Butler County Jail Budget. The total budget is $1,124,490.


The court only received one bid for the replacement of all lighting in the courthouse. Ronnie Pharris' bid of $64.350.75 was approved. The court has received a $68,000 grant to change to LED lights to increase energy savings.


The court approved the three-year appointment of A J Woolsey to the Assessment Appeals Board.


Due to changes in the law on January 1, 2020, the court has to adjust the Emergency Management Director's salary. The total salary will be $35,568 annually. The court also approved back pay of $1,331.36 to correct the problem. They also approved an additional $1,000 for the lights and lettering of the EMD's vehicle.


The court approved the hiring of Warren Brooks and Randy Grubb as seasonal workers for the Butler County Road Department starting April 6, 2020.


Luke Mooneyhan and Autumn Hernandez were hired as E-911 Telecommunicators. Their starting date is March 24, 2020, with a starting pay of $12 per hire and a fifty-cent raise after completing the academy.


The court approved the following:

-Bills and transfers

-Transfer of $25,000 from the General Fund to Jail Fund

-One mile of crack sealing on Flat Rock Road by Allen Asphalt for $8,000

-2nd reading and adoption of Ordinance #4 amending the Butler County Fiscal -Court Budget for FY 2019-2020 in the amount of $303,012.31
