Fiscal Court: Hears from GRCF Committee, Conservation District, and Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, February 24th, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

Robin Johnson and Tristan Evans from the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber requesting funding for advertising for the Green River Catfish Festival 2020. They shared demographic information from the 2019 GRCF. The court gave the Chamber $5,000 for advertising.

Shane Wells of the Butler County Conservation District gave a brief report to the court. According to Wells Butler County Farmers brought approximately $202,125.87 of federal and state funds into the county from three different programs: County Agricultural Investment Program, Kentucky Soil Erosion, and Water Quality Cost Share Program and Environmental Quality Incentives Program & Conservation Stewardship Program. The court approved the annual payment of $35,000 to the Butler County Conservation District.

Jennifer Bryant, Director of Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center, spoke to the court. The Center provides one safe, child-friendly location where teams of professionals work together to pursue justice and offer treatment to children and families. According to Bryant, they have served 54 children from Butler County. The court approved a $1500 payment to the Center.

Judge Tim Flener introduced Alex Conley from the Department of Local Government.  He will be a liaison to the Governor’s office.

The court approved the following by a 5-0 vote:

  • Judge Flener to sign an agreement between the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Butler County Fiscal Court
  • Judge Flener to sign a contract between Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Department of Libraries & Archives and Butler County Fiscal Court
  • Refund Butler County Jail Commissary $21.58 from General Fund for returned items from Amazon account
  • Advertise to take bids for Butler County EEC Grant Contract
  • First reading of Budget Amendment Ordinance #4 for $303,012.31
  • Bills and transfers
  • Land payoff $50,068.41
  • Transfer $25,000from General Fund to Jail Fund
