Cody Henderson addressed the court about applying for a grant to revamp the old Butler County Fairgrounds.
"I am very passionate about this project; the Chamber owns nine acres down there, and I would like to see a fairground instead of a bean field," said Henderson.
Henderson has found a $100,000 State Aide Grant with a 75/25 match for programs like this. He presented a scaled drawing of the proposed fairgrounds layout to the court. The drawing included a midway, improved tractor-pulling space, and many other amenities.
Henderson said he would do all the paperwork for the grant application and assist with the surveying and engineering aspects of the project. He asked the court for permission to apply for the grant and the $33,333 match of cash and/or in-kind match. Magistrates approved Henderson's request.
A request was made to include Lakeland Drive ( in Northland Circle) in the county road lists. Judge/Executive Tim Flener appointed Magistrates Kevin Phelps and Stevie Givens to inspect the road and report to the court.
Kyle Moore stepped down from the Butler County Ambulance Board. Magistrates approved the appointment of Tony Cottrell to the board and reappointed Bob McKee to the board, as well.
Litter Abatement payments of $577 were made to Temple View Church Youth; $487.30 to Temple View Church Ladies; and $600 to the BCHS Bass Team.
The court approved the transfer of $35,000 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund, bills and transfers, and the monthly treasurer's statement.
