FISCAL COURT: Date Centers discussed; insurance premiums approved
Butler County Fiscal Court convened on Monday, June 8, at the Butler County Courthouse, with all magistrates present.
Judge/Executive Tim Flener addressed the Court regarding data centers, noting, “We have not been approached by anybody wanting to put a Data Center in Butler County.”
Judge Flener stated he has consulted with KACO (Kentucky Association of County Officials) lawyers, spoken with other judges, considered temporary moratoriums, and drafted potential restrictions on water and electricity usage. He had a meeting scheduled for the following Wednesday with KACO and additional discussions planned in Lexington. Butler County Attorney Michele Duvall noted that implementing restrictions would be easier if the county had planning and zoning, which only 40 of Kentucky’s 120 counties currently have.
Following approval of the minutes, the Court proceeded to old business, addressing the
Barge Contract with Green River Leasing. The Court approved an up-front payment of $98,250 to Green River, contingent upon the presentation of receipts.
Gina Tynes of Essential Insurance Group presented the premium for the volunteer fire departments. The Court approved the $64,752.77 premium. No action was taken regarding the KACO Workers’ Compensation insurance. The Court also approved the Kentucky Employer’s Mutual Insurance premium of $9,414.59.
The Court approved and authorized Judge Flener to sign the Health Reimbursement Arrangement Resolution.
The Friends of Butler County Animals submitted a bid to operate the animal shelter for $90,000 annually, which the Court approved.
The Court approved the following businesses for material purchases: Hagan & Stone, Drake’s Farm Service, Flynn Brothers, Scotty’s Contracting, Caneyville Crushed Stone, and Martin Marietta.
Fifth District Magistrate Dillon Bryant requested his “celebration” funds of $1,187 be allocated to the Gilstrap Community Center upon receipt. Second District Magistrate Kevin Phelps requested his “celebration” funds of $1,356.17 be allocated to the Second District Volunteer Fire Department upon receipt.
County Attorney Michele Duvall presented recommended amendments to the Administrative Code for the Court’s review prior to the next meeting.
