Fiscal Court Approves Fire Dues Ordinance

The Butler County Fiscal Court held a called meeting on Thursday, October 27th at the Butler County Courthouse.
After months of debating, discussing, and several meetings, the court approved the second reading of the Fire Dues Ordinance by a 4-1 vote with Stevie Givens, First District Magistrate, the lone nay vote. The $25 Fire Dues will appear on the 2017 county tax bills.

Alecia Johnson addressed the court concerning an upcoming Trail Town event.  The Trail Town Task Force is seeking designation as an official Kentucky Trail Town. A "Float on the Green River" with several additional activities is planned for June 3, 2017.  Johnson wanted to make the court aware of the event and to ask for community support.


Butler County Road Foreman Jonathan Deweese reported that the county had spread 93,019 gallons of oil on county roads and sold the City of Morgantown an additional 2,000 gallons.
"We have cleaned the ramp at Woodbury, finished mowing, and are starting to prepare for the snow," said Deweese.


Fourth District Magistrate David Whittinghill reported that the Leonard Oak Boat Ramps are about finished and thanked the County Road Department for all their work.


Butler County Animal Shelter Director Susan Meredith request additional help at the Shelter. 
"We have about 40 dogs and the same number of cats; I need more help just to keep the basics done like feeding, cleaning and taking care of the animals.  I can't do what you hired me to do as the director," said Meredith. The court approved the hiring of an additional  part-time employee for the shelter.
Roger Givens asked to court to sign a proclamation in support of the nomination of Butler County native Admiral Claude C. Bloch to the Hall of Distinguished Alumni at Western Kentucky University.  The magistrates approved the request by a 5-0 vote.

  • Lease agreement with Community Action for the Senior Citizen Center
  • Litter abatement payment to Salem Baptist Church for $604
  • Treasurer's monthly report
  • Bills and transfers
