Fiscal Court approves donation to Boys & Girls Club

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, October 8th at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance.
Amanda White from the Butler County Boys & Girls Club reported to the court on the activities of the Club.
"We are serving an average of 92 children at the Morgantown Club and 54 at North Butler Elementary location daily," said White.
The court approved a donation of $12,500 to the club.
Butler County Treasurer Rebecca Jacobs gave the monthly and quarterly financial reports.  The beginning balance on September 1, 2018 was $4,062,268.15, total receipts were $159,727.50, total disbursements $511,387.21 and an ending balance of $3,710,608.44 as of September 30, 2018. Jacobs also gave a detailed report of the Butler County Fiscal Court's long-term liabilities which includes E-911 Dispatch Controller ($3,405.87), Land ($93,072.48), Sheriff 2017 RAM Truck ( $15,634.40), and Sheriff 2018 RAM Truck ( $24,856.95)for a total of $136,969.70.
County Attorney Richard Deye gave a report on Telecom, an auditing services for county utilities.  No action was taken by the court.
Deye also reported on a request for permission to install a gas line on 700 feet of the Clay Keith Road. Road Builders, LLC intends to start an asphalt company in Butler County and needs the gas line.  Attorney Chris Hopgood, representing Road Builders, LLC, also addressed the court.  The state has granted permission for the state highway involved.  Several landowners were also in attendance and expressed their concerns about the maintenance of the road.  Also in question is ownership of the road.  According to Deye several county roads are not owned by the county only maintained by the county.  The court tabled the request.

The court approved the following by a 5-0 vote:

  • Litter Abatement checks to BCMS Boys Baseball $620, BCMS Girls Basketball $611, BCHS Baseball $652, and BCHS Track & Field $582
  • Refund to Keystops, LLC 2017 net profit $216.22
  • Refund to Baldwin CPA's 2016 net profit $305
  • Kirby's Carpet Cleaning $792 for office and courtroom
  • Payment to Shirley Neighbors $461.54
  • Bills and transfers
  • First District Fire Department Financial Statement
  • Payment for Dillon Bryant, the new fifth district magistrate, to attend the KACO Conference
  • Hiring of Lloyd Havens for custordial services for the courthouse
