With discussions about potential data centers happening all across Kentucky, Butler County has joined that conversation. At Monday night's Butler County Fiscal Court meeting, Judge/Executive Tim Flener addressed the topic of data centers.
"To be clear, no one has approached us about building a data center in Butler County," Flener stated. "However, I believe it's important that we prepare."
Flener introduced an ordinance establishing a one-year moratorium on the construction, development, or operation of data centers and all data storage facilities within Butler County Fiscal Court's jurisdiction.

The magistrates unanimously approved the first reading of the moratorium, voting 5-0 in support of the measure.
"We want to be proactive and continue researching the potential impact of data centers," added Judge Flener.
