Fire on Hub Phelps Road; arrest made for arson

UPDATE: An arrest has been made in the early-morning fire on Hub Phelps Road. Allen Wayne Woodcock (10-18-71) has been arrested and lodged in the Butler County Jail. Woodcock has been charged with arson (second degree). Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Reneer made the arrest.

UPDATE: According to law enforcement officers and Arson Investigator Charlie Tomes, the fire has been determined to be arson. An arrest is pending. Stay connected to Beech Tree News for updates.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2014, firemen were dispatched to 3229 Hub Phelps Road, off of Russellville Road. When firemen arrived at the scene flames were shooting out the roof. The house is owned by Scott Coleman and was occupied by Kelly Hunt, who was not home at the time of the fire.

According to Hunt, the electric had been disconnected at the house earlier on Monday. The house appears to be a total loss. There were no injuries.

Responding were Morgantown, Second District, Fifth District, and Third District Volunteer Fire Departments, Butler County EMS, and Butler County Sheriff Deputy Chris Reneer.
