Festival of Trees serves as backdrop for luncheon and dinner

“I am so glad to be in Butler County.  The trees are amazing,” said Zink.

Also making the trip to Morgantown was Dianne King, State Treasurer; Myra Sue Evans, State Registrar; and Kay Harbison, Second District Director.  DAR members from the Samuel Davis Chapter, Patrick Gilmore Chapter, and Green River Chapter were also in attendance. Morgantown Mayor Linda Keown welcomed visitors to the city and reminded those in attendance of what Morgantown may have looked like 200 years ago.

“Thank you to the ladies of the DAR, and I appreciate your willingness to promote and support the community,” said Mayor Keown.

The Annual Festival of Trees dinner was held on Saturday night.  A large crowd gathered to enjoy the trees, great food, song, and learn a little Butler County history.  Green River Caterers provided the meal and the 32 decorated trees provided the Winter Wonderland.  Christmas caroling, led by David Hocker, with accompaniment provided by Mary Alice Black and Doug Odle, was enjoyed by all.
Fact or fiction questions were posed to panelists on the history of Butler County and Morgantown sparking several interesting comments.
