Feeding America comes to Morgantown

Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland came to Morgantown on May 29th to distribute food to all Butler Countians. In connection with Community Action, a drive-thru was set up at the Charles T. Black City Park. Mayor Billy Phelps and Judge Tim Flener assisted the Community Action staff in the distribution of 780 boxes of food for 1,962 individuals.

Commodities are handed out monthly at Morgantown Community Church, but this allotment was emergency boxes in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic with no income restrictions.

The boxes contained 12-15 items, including milk, juice, oats, noodles, peanut butter, beef stew, soup, cheese, canned chicken and pork, mixed fruit, and a bag of apples.

Several individuals help with the commodities each month, including Coordinator Amanda Summer, Frieda and David Clark, David Meijer, Kaleyonna Summers, Zena Taylor, and Erica White. Third District Magistrate Timmy Givens also volunteered.
