Extension Council Meeting

Monday night the Extension Council was served a delicious Italian meal at the Extension Office.  Shanna Drake prepared the meal and her husband Greg helped serve.

Extension Council members meet every three months. They are business and community leaders that offer guidance to the Extension Office, which proudly opened its new building one year ago at 102 Parkway Lane.

Rhonda Meredith, President of the Council, opened the meeting, and Greg informed everyone that the State Extension Office Committee performed a five-year audit this past summer, which it does to all Offices on a rotating basis, the Extension Office did very well in the review.

Lloyd Saylor went over the Kentucky Extension Community Assessment Butler County 2019 Report. The Extension Office stays busy with 4-H Activities, Nutrition, Homemaker, Art, and many other classes and is always open for suggestions about new programs.

Butler County's own Luke Jacobs is an outstanding example for our youth. He is the State Vice President for 4-H and spent 14 days this past summer at the State Fair, Luke gave an update on 4-H in the State and mentioned that there were over 800 entries in the Ham Curing Contest, an event that he won last year.

4-H is an excellent program for young people, and there are many activities such as Archery, Shooting, Cooking, Sewing, Art, Speech, Gardening, Raising Animals, and much more.

The Butler County Extension Services is on Facebook, and they are open from 8 to 4 PM, Monday-Friday.

Their phone number is 270-526-3767.
