Ethan Clark wins BCMS Spelling Bee

Sixth grader Ethan Clark was the last man standing on Friday, February 5, at the annual Butler County Middle School Spelling Bee.  Clark was one of twelve participants who advanced to the school-wide bee following classroom competition.  Hezikiah Pendley, also a sixth grader, was runner-up.

Other participants include sixth graders Taylin Clark, and MaKinna Embry; seventh graders Kobe Annis, Rayna Beller, Nate Henderson, Benjamin Moore; and 8th graders Taylor Burden, Dustin Johnson, Cherokee Lacefield, and Kelsi Waters.

Kyllie Doughty, sixth grade Language Arts teacher, was the coordinator of the event. 

"I'm proud of all the students who participated in the school-wide spelling bee - they did a great job," said Doughty.  "I know Ethan will represent BCMS well and we wish him the best of luck."

Principal Tim Freeman also expressed his congratulations to Ethan and all spelling bee participants.

"I really appreciate the hard work of our faculty and all students who took part in the our school spelling bee," said Freeman.  "I want to congratulate both our winner, Ethan Clark, and runner-up, Hezikiah Pendley."

Clark will advance to the county-wide spelling bee, which is scheduled for 5 p.m., Thursday, February 18, at the Butler County Education Complex.
